About Us
Who We Are
Motivated by love for people, Project Outrageous Love seeks to build bridges of peace in underserved communities of Jordan through interfaith dialogue, humanitarian assistance, and education using art, drama, sports, and English as a Second Language.
Why Jordan? Jordan is a small country, about the size of Indiana with a population of over 10 million. Millions of refugees from Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and other countries in the region make up a large amount of this population. The Jordanian government opens their borders to the suffering and the downtrodden. Per capita, Jordan has taken in more refugees than any other nation. The refugee landscape of Jordan is about 1.3 million Syrian refugees, approximately 200,000 Iraqi refugees that have decided to stay in Jordan, and more than 2 million Palestinian refugees registered in Jordan from both 1948 and 1967. Many refugee kids are at risk as they have wide gaps in education, and do not have access to resources like transportation and supplies like other children in the country.
Along with the vast areas occupied by refugees, there are underprivileged areas throughout Jordan where Jordanian kids are also being deprived of basic human rights. The majority of the kids in these areas did not attend school throughout the entire COVID pandemic because they did not have access to online classes. Child labor has become a serious issue, especially during the pandemic. The National Child Labor Survey in 2016 estimated close to 76,000 of Jordan’s most vulnerable children are engaged in economic activity. (Child Labour on the Rise Among Jordan’s Most Vulnerable.)
Our Approach
Our Mission
You can give everything you have to the poor, but without love it is meaningless. Project Outrageous Love believes we can only do good in this world when it truly comes from a place of love. Therefore, we make it our mission to spread love and joy to kids through our projects wherever we go in Jordan. We also take a hands-on approach with our work and we never hand out money. Instead, we are personally involved and present in every project we take on. It is so important to us to build relationships and personally hear the needs each community faces. This is what makes us different from other nonprofits operating in the region. With your support, Project Outrageous Love strives to give communities programs that benefit them. Together we change the lives of kids in Jordan.
Our Vision
Our vision in 2024 is to continue to take art for kids throughout the region to the most underserved and
under-resourced communities. One way we do this is through Upcycling for Art. We teach kids how to
take recyclable materials and turn them into art. This is an inexpensive way for kids to use the materials
around them and also instill the importance of picking up trash and caring for our planet.
We also teach helpful life skills to kids such as cooking and baking.
This year in 2024 as we continue to watch the devastation in Gaza, Project Outrageous Love desires to
be part of the massive relief efforts for children. We have helped with the needs of cancer patients who
have evacuated to Jordan for treatment. When the operation ends, Project Outrageous Love will help
with the needs of children through the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.
